Correct me if I’m wrong, but when most people hear about the fact that some are capable of waking up early to join a 6:00 AM exercise session, the reactions use to be most amusing:

Are you CRAZY?

I’d NEVER be able to do such a thing!

Don’t you want to sleep?

How do you do it?

Truth to be told, at first it sounds at least uncomfortable to leave the coziness of your nice bed to get out well before the sun has risen. But, for your health and wellness, there are excellent reasons why you should get up and train like a champion while the rest of the world sleeps another hour. In fact I’m gonna give you four of them:

  1. You get more time out of your day. How often have you said “I don’t have time to exercise” before? Guess what – you DO have the time, you’re just looking in the wrong place for it! Isn’t it nice to tick “exercise” off your to-do list so early so you can get on with your life for the rest of the day?
  2. Your metabolism simply BOOSTS! Workouts like your typical CrossFit WOD are designed to raise your metabolic rate for up to 38 hours after the exercise has finished. When you train early in the morning, you’re not only starting this process earlier in the day – you’re also pairing its effects with the rest of your daily activities, thus increasing fat burn, muscle building and other body functions. You can’t get all that from a simple jog!
  3. You avoid the rush hour. Have you ever seen how easy traffic is before 6:00 AM in the morning? Have you noticed how much less crowded the gym itself is? You also get time enough to get back home for a shower, have breakfast and get ready for work! It’s just fantastic!
  4. You get yourself the best wellness ritual ever. Studies have proven how effective exercise in the morning is to get you in a good mood. The sense of accomplishment paired with the effect of raised endorphin levels will make you feel you can achieve anything during the rest of your day after leaving the gym. And this is what CrossFit is about – giving us the strength and fitness to face our daily lives in the best possible way.

So there you have it! Get that alarm set up, and be ready to kill it early in the morning! You might even catch some amazing sunrises in the process!
